My Horticulture Dreams

I've been spending a little too much time (and money) at Cactus & Tropicals. It's a little too close to my house, and my kids love going there, they get to "pet" the fish, and they love the fountains. It was a great place to get teacher gifts, and shower favors, and more indoor plants (since MarySue and I took care of the outdoor plants earlier in the season). So last time I was there I had an epiphany that when I retire from my full-time current job (of SAHM) in like 24 years, I want to work at C&T or be a horticulturist/landscape architect. I know, I know I change my mind A LOT about what I want to be in my next "life" from Law School, to B School (CEO dream), to artist, but with 24 more years work experience in my own little yard, and visiting gardens wherever I can, and MarySue's expertise and guidance, and an advanced degree in either horticulture or landscape architecture (Utah State Aggie?) maybe I can pull off this dream. Impressively, most if not all of C&T's employees have these amazing degrees. Anywhoo, just wanted to share my latest whim. Oh, and a Huntington Garden Cherry Blossom Photo (which I want to be my blogs background if I ever figure that out) & some plants from C&T.

Oh the dreams of a stay at home mom. YOU GO GIRL!! Mine include law school, becoming an author on various childrens' issues, teaching at either BYU Provo or Hawaii, and opening up my own scrapbook store (do I need another degree for that?). Oh what our future holds.

My dream is to lay on the beach in Hawaii with a good book and have servants all around me!

Have you heard about the Geiss-thumb??? Most haven't and that's understandable. My mother's maiden name is Geiss. Her parents, my wonderful grandparents Geiss had/have a great reputation for growing flowers, fruit orchards, berries etc. We cousins decided to change the "green" thumb to Geiss thumb. It seems to be spreading and you're included Annette. I loved your flower choices when we went shopping and your planters were beautiful. I do such a nice job. I can hardly wait for our next visit to see how full and gorgeous everything is. As for future dreams...that's so fun and important to think about and plan for. But I must warn you from personal experience that I didn't realize how fun, busy and rewarding life would be when all the kids "flew the coop"...now I get to travel from home to home, welcoming new babies, gardening, baking cinnamon rolls and playing with the most adorable "grands" anyone could ever have not to mention helping scrub when a broken arm materialized.
