Just thought I'd share what I have been watching...I have never gathered before. Sorry Mom, okay, I'll bet I did back in the Calico Corner sewing class days. Kate and I took sewing together with Marissa Frost, I believe. My dream piece was the Laura Ashley pants jumper (I believe Marissa was working on it, even though we both had the Laura Ashley one, so goes sewing, right Kate?). I loved all of the Liberty fabrics. Also I think we spent every "Mutual" night sewing as Beehives. I don't know if our leader was just trying to keep us away from the influence of the older girls, or she just must have had something for sewing.
Here I go practicing...by the way so influenced by Leslie's talented sister here, I picked up the same pattern and some cute fabric and I hope to make a successful go at it. Keep your fingers crossed. She also describes perfectly what happened to me last night as I finished the first Church Lady apron, and two size four aprons.
On Laura Ashley...I've been looking for the corduroy jumper images and seeing some great vintage shots thinking, where did all of our L.A. dresses go? What a collection that would be. And when did SCP get the store thus making our parents' trips to England the their return with Laura Ashley dresses for each of us not such a novelty anymore? And then remember the day after Christmas sale? I have to admit, my "black dress" is Laura Ashley, purchased while preggers with H, sized "bigger" to fit the early months (slimly fits me now!), and yes, I still occassionally wear it. Still have my "vintage" Laura Ashley bedding (and the quilt pieces to someday make that matching quilt!). Ahhh, memory lane.

No comment on the sewing since I never got to take classes at Calico Corner.
But I still have my Laura Ashley bedding. Mia loved it for awhile, until she started ripping the seams and pulling out the stuffing. I just can't get rid of it!
