Hammering it in, apparently

Please try and picture this...H draws a distressed looking cat (eyebrows "in", frowny lips, actually a very great cat, but distressed) and writes 'heres some drugs' (He doesn't do apostrophes yet). He shows me and I am a little alarmed at first, being confused at his message. He tells me how sad and sick the cat is (representing drug use I presume). Is a distressed cat the new egg frying in the pan for "Say No to Drugs"? & Should I be nervous, he is in first grade for heaven's sake!

More on the art front - Yesterday, H & O presented some stories based on their art for FHE. We talked about Heavenly Father's creations (we went to the park, saw some ducks, you've got to tie it in right, no really this was pre-planned and H assigned himself the day before, as giving the lesson) and he drew two really good, colorful, and totally pre-planned picture of a leg and foot just about to step on a ladybug and another bug and how we need to be careful not to step on creations...and Save the Rainforest. We loved reminding them about Saving the Earth by turning off the lights and eating all of their dinner. Then O added a story and drew an amazing picture of a seed, then cocoon, and a butterfly. It was awesome. Then H drew a dozen more pictures and presented his 'art gallery' in the hallway (who knows when I will have the heart to "take them down"). I was excited. They haven't been utilizing the art drawer like I like them too (which O's pre-K teacher assured me was normal...) Blah, Blah, blog.

How cute, what awesome kids you have. I loved how you said you were teaching them about "Saving the Earth by turning off the lights and eating all of their dinner". I'll have to keep that one in mind for M!!

I am laughing about the sad cat. I mean, where did he dream up the idea of drawing a cat for his anti-drugs message? Hilarious.
