Lotoja JuJuBe Oogly Goo

Lotoja 2008

Today, Susan called me to catch up and talk about our summer bike plans (we rode together 3 mornings a week all last summer, she was training for touring Italy, and I was still nursing Pea J Bug, so I wasn't training for much). She mentioned gathering a team for Lotoja (a bike race that goes from Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in less than 12 hours), which I was dying to do last year, but it is nearly impossible to get in. So ever since talking to her around noon, I have called and invited 12 people, and then crossed off every name but 4. And I was thinking, if they weren't jumping out of their pants to ride it, I didn't think it was a good idea. Since we had to solidify and register for just the chance of being chosen in the lottery to ride, it is 9:33, and we've got at least one of five of us registered. So what I am asking for, from my blog friends, are your good positive vibes, karma, jujubes, and oogly goos our way, so that we can get in. And you know I will tell you all about it when we do.

Also in the K family news, I think we got the boys psyched about soccer again. O & I went to the soccer store and picked up some soccer goal nets, and we played all afternoon. Cross your fingers for this one as well that O willingly makes it to practice this week (it's been our major struggle the last 3 weeks or so). Pea June Bug was just happy to be outside and riding around in the bike trailer. We had a fun family bike ride too. Yeah for Spring!

uggh, I forgot to call you back. It must be a sign. For sure it's a sign that although at least one of us would love to do it (Tim), we sadly still don't own a road bike. He keeps threatening that he's going to buy one, though. Since he wants to do more triathalons, I guess it's inevitable.

Yay about soccer! Our soccer practice chat time is one of my most highly anticipated hours of the week!

It was very appropriate that I put in "Walk the Line"/Johnny Cash to watch last night as they sing "I'm Going to Jackson"...I can't wait to be a lotaja supporter in a backup vehicle full of mountain dew, snickers bars, filet's o' fish, and dill pickle seed to feed the bike team. Sound like a good menu??

Wishing you good luck in the draw. I'd like to even be in that support vehicle.

Oh yeah, Andy, I seriously can't believe I found another human being on this EARTH that eats dill pickle sunflower seeds! Annette once came with me in Tim's car and I was so embarrassed that right there in his cupholders were a HUGE bag of dill pickle seeds and an actual spitoon cup. Disgusting.

I totally spaced it!!! Ugh. Although, I don't know if it would work out for me. It does sound like a lot of fun. Maybe next year? See you Thursday.
