Flight of the Conchords

Thanks to the Taylors for the heads up on this. If you like, look up their Business Time on youtube as well. Andy says "it's similar to crack cocaine, highly addictive". Funny boys.

P's favorite Vampire Weekend

Our new favorite band...Vampire Weekend...check out how we "discovered" them here, and you've never seen P dance tougher! Have a listen...

Birthday Week in Repose

We celebrated this little cuties birthday! We love Morgan! In a tremendously chaotic fashion at SPAG with the whole Utah S clan plus Maama and Baampa.

Oh dear! Love the lopey look too, oh dear.

Andy's face says it all...What do you think he is thinking?

Also, I am still catching the wrath of P missing her bff A's 1st birthday. I know, pretty bad, SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy.

Chickadee Rock Stars

H & Dad got a few, 6, Chickadee runs in, before they had to leave early to attend a skating party for H and D.O.'s party for the others. O was still ailing and so missed the ski day. But O, P, & I did have a great time at Bailey's swim meet in Park City (she rocks!). Then, I finally caved into this flu, cold, strep thing and ailed for awhile. Since O was still ailing after a long winter's nap, the family missed D.O.'s birthday, but there was no way H was going to miss his friend's party, and since I am able to decently ice skate (thanks to lessons and inspriration from Megan the Ice Skate Queen competitor, she really did!) I took H for his first time on the thin blades of steel. After a few H-frustrated and grumpy rounds, he went out on his own, and rocked the place. (And I was no longer blamed for every fall or near-fall or non-catch or everything!). It was swell. And aside from a back-wrenching team fall and some tight skate boots, all was well and we can't wait to go again! So, you think I am done and in need of a lot of ibuprofen and Nyquil, NO! AK and I went on a hot date, accompanied by the Taylors to cheer for Stanford and JB's Stanford Volleyball Coach (who is now the Head Coach), as they beat #1 BYU in 3 straight sets! It was awesome! And we loved being 4 of 6 total fans (all friends of the Coach and in the first 5 rows) in the stadium of 3,000. It was really fun, and especially fun to see AK root against the BYU and even wearing red for the occasion. What a rebel.

We are doing this one instead...

www.kanabtri.com

Rachel, Megan, Bailey, (Holden wants to...we'll see), Kate and possibly mi Madre y Padre. Their is a sprint, a beginner's tri, and a kid's tri. Fun for the whole family!

I really am registered.

And I really have my new bike (mountain). Now I just need someone to put it together (the shop's bike stuff is down and out for the season!). Anyone, anyone?

Sick in Blissville

The boys are sick, Owen missed school yesterday, Holden today and both had raging fevers this afternoon accompanied by long, lovely naps. I've barely left the house the last few days, thus my terrible befuddlement and lonely confused escapade to Rite Aid. I was kind of out of sorts with dealing with real people or something. Anyway, I escaped for about 7 or 8 minutes.

Valentimes or Balentines Recap

I really did have a lovely ode of love written out to my darling sweetheart. But I didn't have a picture, and we all know a blog without a picture is really boring.

Well, the boys really looked forward to Valentines day because they remembered that they get toys and stuff from Mom & Dad. A quick trip to Jolley's and I was set with harmonicas, a voice changer, an eyeball ring, a Transformer key chain, and a few whistles with compasses (very handy for hiking I thought). I also found what I wanted (a beautiful porcelain box with bees on it) which AK later picked up (just to give him some adventure you know). We had fun making the boys' Valentine boxes the night before, which were filled with all sorts of candy and goodies including an awesome original David Meikle original t-shirt from D. I also got a few gorgeous hand-made candles from O and I am sure something lovely from H (I am horrible, I can't remember!). And big, slobbery kisses from P!

Darling Dori insisted on babysitting (I promise people, I did not, as you may think, threaten to hang her by her toenails or anything, I promise, she really wants to!!!) and we headed out to a romantic and very fun double date with C & P. We hit Chipotle (my first time) and then headed up to Millcreek for some nearly 3 mile round trip snow-shoeing action. The weather could not have been more perfect. Perfectly clear sky, 3/4 moon, stars bright, no wind, and a chill just enough to cool our working out bods. I took a horridly non-centered picture of the L's, but it's quite cute and there is another of the four of us. We are super fun, huh?

Grateful Sunday

  1. Dude, I am currently in my hometown, went to the home ward, without the Kids. I got to really listen to Ann Hales, sing the most hilarious 7 or 8 verse song for the "get up and stretch" hymn (94% of the crowd tried to sit after the 3rd verse), and an awesome, get a copy worthy talk by Ken Everson. I love my kids and all, but to reminisce and pretend to be childless newlyweds again was fantastic.

  2. Dude, so I am in my hometown and of course, as it is 98% of the time here, the weather is perfect. Not a cloud in the sky, and sunny, but brisk 70 or so, the sparkling water I see as I type this from the 'rents place, and my love and Valentine by my side.

  3. For 6 siblings who always make me happy.

  4. For parents with a sick pad with the closest proximity imaginable to the Island, so we don't ever have to drive and attempt to park on the Island. And for putting us up on our many whims to visit.

  5. For Aunties (and Uncle Josh) willing to feed, play with, entertain, sleep, and drink in the love of our two awesome boys. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This trip has been priceless!

Wow! My HS is listed in Wikipedia. They get it too, in 7th & 8th grade we were the Sea Weeds. Awesome.

Random Things...6+ things about Moi

P in her Miss Madonna outfit. Yes, I really dressed her in this and she wore it all day. Zoom in for a head boo boo shot. Poor P.

O & D having a very exciting play date.
1. I love taking naps.

2. Most of the dreams I wake to remember are filled with high school people & me being angry at Andy. We now call him my 'dream Andy' so I am not mad at the real Andy for falling in love with Liz B., leaving me in some other way, and other 'dream Andy' episodes.

3. Supposedly, I am a lot like my namesake, my Grandmother June Annetta, who was always ready for fun. Also known as the most "ditzy" mom, as voted by my uncle Drew and his friends. And she was also brilliant and stunningly beautiful. Ahem!

4. My kids don't listen to me at all! (Or so it really feels like it today!!!)

5. I snore when I am pregnant.

6. I need a trip. I want to go somewhere warm and sunny and lazy and shoppy and warm. Hummm, sounds like home...

7. And yes, I haven't lived in my hometown for 8 years (since fall 2000), but it is still and always will be home. Wow, though, I just calculated and I've almost spent half of my life elsewhere (Utah, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Arizona, really spectacular alternatives...not! sorry AZ peeps, nothing compares to home!).

8. I am reading a quick book, John Grisham's Bleachers (I stole from Megan's house! Thanks Megan!), and it's kind of reflecting on High School glory days, and I realized that I graduated 15 Fifteen FIFTEEN years ago. Dude, I am trippin'.

9. I have read 5 books in the last 4 weeks, The Little Lady Agency (not the detective one, very cute and fun), The Little Lady Agency in the Big Apple (or something to that effect, cute and fun), John Grisham's Playing for Pizza (entertaining and yummy), The Carpenter and the Handmaiden (eh, it was okay), and Bergdorf Blondes (the funny thing is, I first typed it out as Bergdork Blondes, hee hee!). All were quick and fun and good for the winter blahs.

Are you supposed to italicize book titles (or is it Magazine articles?), or hang them in quotes, I can't remember?

Katie tagged me, I tag Rachel...

Grateful Sunday

  1. Having possibly the best days of my life yesterday. Getting to actually and really ski with Holden & Owen down Chickadee. Dude, my kids rock. Then coming home to do the switch with AK (so he can do a few flat light, Baldy socked in, but deliciously soft wind blown packed powder runs of his own), and getting to snuggle with P, so yummy. Then, Tia Dori watching the kids (yet again, she rocks!) so AK & I can attend the Saturday night session of Stake Conference (the bomb diggity). Our Stake President is awesome.
  2. Tia Dori. For loving our kids and being an awesome friend with a great book collection to boot!
  3. The power and gift of the Holy Ghost. Which I definitely need to seek more. Especially since one morning this week, I woke up to thinking Katie's voice saying "Annette", so I called her because I thought she might be headed out to work out and something was going to happen to her, so yes, I called her at 5:45 am. I am weird. So yes, I need to get my signals straightened, so to speak.
  4. The very cute and very fun Lorimers. Always inspiring and I love that they hang with the old folks (we are 10 years their senior).
  5. Girls' nights out! Although I think I could have directed and gotten the truly lackluster extras in 27 Dresses, and I didn't like seeing KH all dowdy (I want the glitz and glamour people!), it was fun to eat junk food and kick it with the ladies on Friday night. Next up for the ladies (aka we go see the movies our husbands would rather not see, to put it nicely), Juno.
  6. Kids. Boys. Girls. Getting to play and be a kid again, and/or teaching my kids to do things (ski, bike, snowshoe, etc.) so that I have the awesomest excuse in the world to play and experience these fun things with them. I love our drives up the canyon, where we see all of the beautiful and unexpected colors of the morning sky and snow covered mountains. Looking for ice climbers, animals, the first signs of ski slopes. And having some Utahn-ic (like Phonic) English lessons on the way (we are working on button (not bu-un), or (not er), to (not ta), well (not wool), etc. Gotta love 'em and gotta love being a full-grown lady tom-boy (I can take it!).
  7. See me in action here. I am the one on the yellow banana board and all black. Totally radical.

Penelope's Shiner

It's high on her forehead, but you can see the brunt of it. This happened on Wednesday, totally my fault. I left her for 3 seconds, unbuckled in her stroller, and out she popped onto the concrete and possibly skimming the brick. OOOOUCCCHHHH! Dumb Mama! Poor Penelope. It was not my finest day of motherhood. Isn't she still the cutest little button though. She is quite a trooper and she's definitely inherited my very weird "smiling through the pain" thing since 2 minutes after it happened she was smiling and waving "Hi" at my P.A. neighbor's little lady baby Aubie. Also on the Penelope front - her first top tooth has peeked it's way through, I can feel the ridges. This cut has been the "worst" of any I can remember, poor thing. What a week for almost 11 month old P.

Thanks Kat for the photo!

I could have sworn I stayed at the Ritz Carlton house in Jackson Hole last night, if it wasn't for the 6 kids I was in charge of keeping safe and sleeping. I had cable, my own personal treadmill & elliptical, personal butler (Bailey), cleaning staff (all of the kids), and even personal chef (well, for their own person, as long as it's cereal and toast!). The towels were clean and fluffy and the thermostat was a very balmy 71 degrees (I had to turn it down twice, we are used to 68 during the day and 65-66 at night!). I even got a shower rinse in the luxurious huge shower complete with deluxe shower head. Now I just don't quite know what to do with Jackson (except run around chasing him, which Megan warned of and was totally right!). He seems content right now with a go-gurt and being in the buckle in chair. A fun time is being had by all (except maybe Cameron, who for all intents and purposes is definitely and totally giving the former and current Poky Little Puppies/KatieDads a serious run for their money! I can't believe she got out the door (sans socks though, despite my pleading and threatenings).

Quote of the day for Bailey, said this morning during the throes of breakfast, a very poopy morning diaper, and getting Cameron to brush her teeth and hair having 3 minutes to go while she is microwaving bread (?): "Boo, you are a night person aren't you?" Anyone that knows me knows I am definitely not a night person, thus always declared myself a morning person, now I am confused. Maybe I am neither!

The picture above is the khs XC204 which I AM GETTING THIS YEAR! As soon as I am home I am putting in my Norda's order. Seriously. I know I have said this before. I can't wait. Also, we are buying out our lease on the Odyssey of which I am so happy and so proud of my bargaining AK for sticking it to the man and paying almost $4,000 less than the "end lease price". Awesome!

Grateful Sundee

This week I am grateful for:
  1. A week of reflection and remembrance and testimony building, due to the passing of Prophet and President Gordon B. Hinckley.
  2. Surviving 4 days without AK, barely. I am also grateful that he only travels once a quarter.
  3. Funny Superbowl commercials. Yes, I am watching it. The boys and I had a good giggle over the lizard Thriller commercial.
  4. Oh boy, Richard Simmons, such stamina. Obviously I just saw that commercial.
  5. AK got to do 2 Chickadee runs with the boys after their ski camp yesterday. I am soooooo stoked! I am way more stoked than AK. I just think it is the greatest thing ever. My kids are awesome.
  6. Andy and I finally aligned and were rooting together for the NY Giants! Yea! I just love those Manning boys.
